I also (because I love themes) created four color schemes. Still have no idea where I'll put these to be printed on shirts or what color shirt they'll end up on or anything of the sort. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery would be helpful.

The digital sketchbook of Jared Stokes. I intend to use this blog to ideally upload at least one work a day - be it finished works, works in progress or casual doodles. In general, I think you are using too many colors. If you are getting screen prints done, they will charge you for the amount of colors that you have.
ReplyDeleteUse the background color (the color of the shirt) as part of the drawing. It could very easily be the color of the heart. Why do you feel pressured to make her skin skin tone? I think it would be much more effective if you used the lightest shade of the main color. (If the octopus is blue, make her skin a very light cool blue.
Since the white is limited to the underside of the tentacles, it looks like you just got lazy and stopped. I'd use the hair color as the color under the tentacles.
Now to critique individually:
a)her hair is too dark to effectively see your beautiful line work. <3 I'd make her eyes the color of her hair.
MORE LATER MUST GO
Ohh, this monitor makes them look much better than the one at work. But I stand by what I said about "a)"
ReplyDeletec) I think her hair needs to be more teal to match her tentacles. And make her lip color the same color of her tentacles, if you are getting it screen printed.
d) OH MY GOD I LOVE THESE COLORS. They really make the skin tone and heart pop. I wish you would make her lips yellow though. <3
You really did a great job with the drawing. I'm busy gawking over her outstretched hand..
